Moonfleet, by J. Meade Falkner, was published in 1898, and is an atmospheric adventure story set on the Dorset coast in England in the mid-18th century. I remember the book fondly, having read it as a child in the late 1970s — smugglers! the crypt! Blackbeard’s ghost! a jewel! the scene in the well! So I am curious to see how it reads now, from an adult perspective, decades later.
You can download a copy of the e-book from Project Gutenberg or Standard Ebooks, and an audiobook version is available from LibriVox. But any unabridged edition (paper, digital or audiobook) is fine.
