Multiple OS - separate purchase?

i have PC’s and Mac’s, i was looking at downloading and installing on my Mac Book Pro also, but it seems that I will need to do another purchase to get it on my IOS device also? just checking before i make the purchase, and waiting on my other post to be answered about the cover page option missing and the back cover option missing

The iOS version is a separate development, therefore a separate purchase.

ok thanks, hope it does not have the same bugs

You’d need to be specific when it comes to bugs. All versions, Windows, MacOS and iOS are all of production standard, as far as my experience or my reading of what I don’t use is concerned.
L&L are very transparent when it comes to what many perceive as shortcomings and regard as bugs. The reality is bugs exist in all software, hence many x.x.xx builds, which are not all feature improvements.

Version: 3.1.5.1 (2073405) 64-bit - 06 Jul 2023 Windows

  1. No way to print with Front cover nor Back cover
  2. on compile, font, size and style are lost no matter what options you chose
  3. export for print only prints 1’st page of document even if it is 10 pages long (example length)

these are basic initial release expected bugs, not for software years old
and that is just me getting used to the software, items i have noticed so far
front matter has no way to select an image for front cover
back matter has no way to select an image for back cover
so these simple shortcomings should honestly not exist
i saw in earlier versions you could at least export to print and select the cover, that is gone in this version, i went ahead and purchased the mac version

need a way to choose a google drive or drop box for location also, not available, those are probably feature requests though

That is the latest Windows version.

  1. True, it is not meant to handle covers in DOCX and PDF compiles. The “cover” sample found under Front Matter is meant for EPUB. Including Front Matter and Back Matter is a tick box option in compile.
  2. You could compile either “As Is” (for a start) or set your desired parameters in the Compile Format Designer.
  3. I don’t own a printer in this day and age. However, are you referring to Export or Compile? Export will export whatever you have selected in the Binder, including child documents. Tip: Avoid Compile to Print on the Windows version. Compiling to whatever other format works fine.
  4. There are ways to include images in Scrivener, as embedded, separate Binder items or images linked to files (outside of Scrivener), basically shortcuts. Images included in documents are unsuitable as covers for the reasons specified by @AntoniDol in answer to your other post. The developers’ philosophy is that cover creation is a post writing production, not meant for creation/development in Scrivener.
  5. Saving your project to cloud services is possible. Synced cloud backups too. Searching the Literature and Latte website for guidelines on this is key, noting that a Scrivener project is not a single file, but is made up of many folders and files.

The tick box for font and back only are for what material to print but no images can be printed or selected in either, not in the latest version, have done all compiles to see what each would produce actually.

The way I have handled the cloud is that on the PC I am just saving to a folder that syncs with one drive, that is good enough for my purposes.
Thanks for your pointers, it is of great help.

You set the file location when you create the project and you can also move it anytime through Finder/File Explorer. If you have Dropbox or OneDrive installed on your computer, you can certainly move the .scriv project folder to Dropbox or OneDrive to directly sync them through those services. We actually do not recommended using the sync with external folder option for that purpose. That is intended for syncing with other applications like Word.

You can also set your automatic backups to save to a cloud service. File -> Options -> Backup.
