My Scrivener reverted back to TRIAL mode!

What happened?

I started Scrivener to do some work and I am greeted by a message that my license has been reverted to trial mode.
I purchased the license!

What happened?

So did mine, on one laptop. I put in the information it asked for and I was good to go. Did you do the same?

I tried to enter the license I had and it did not work.
I tried to recover my license and it said I did not have any history.

Scrivener eventually sent me a link to use and I had to enter my email in the older (Orders Placed Before 26th June 2019) before it sent me a working license.

Got it fixed.

Yeah, just got this this morning. Fortunately, my boss wasn’t over my shoulder aggravating me about a report I was trying to get finished or anything, so I was happy to take about 45 minutes out of my day to hunt down a friggin’ license number I haven’t seen since Christ was a corporal.

Oh, no, wait, just the opposite of all that.

When are you people going to stop dicking around with that useless, incompetent Paddle payment and authentication service and find a REAL outfit that can stop this crap from floating to the surface every 90 days or so? This ain’t brain surgery.

My Win10 laptop reverted to trial mode this morning, so I re-entered the licence code and that made it happy again. This was the third incident over the last few days: twice, Scrivener has stopped responding when I’ve started it, so I’ve had to force it closed and start it again, and then it’s carried on as normal. As I use Scrivener every day, I know this to be very unusual because it’s so reliable.

I’m no medical expert, but I think it might have caught coronavirus. If it thinks it’s going to get a 14-day rest, it’s got another think coming.

An alternative suggestion is that there was a monster Win10 update (KB4551762 looks like the culprit) a few days ago which involved a 20-minute reboot while it fiddled with the system, and it might be something in there which has thrown a spanner in the works.

I got up this morning to work on a piece for a client and got greeted by an “old friend” in the form of Scrivener’s infamous “Trial Version” message.

It took my license with no problem , so I guess I’m lucky. However, it’s not very encouraging that I’m seeing others in this forum who aren’t so lucky. Are we going to have to go through this all over again? Last time this came up as an issue for me it went on for almost two months…

My purchased copy of Scrivener did this as well this morning when I sat down to work.

Entering my purchased license number did not work, It said to input a valid license number. I purchased mine from Amazon, and my number is easily accessible there to cut and paste. Unfortunately due to this whole covid nonsense, I’m doubtful that resolution of these issues are going to be a priority.

Sad part is that I really cracked down and decided to devote my full writing experience to Scrivener, and managed just this week to migrate all of my works in progress entirely over to Scrivener, only to be shut down…

This is the third time since I purchased this software that I’ve had to deal with this. I hate to go back to regular word processor, but i can’t afford to deal with down time or the potential loss of my files.

Very frustrating.

Update: after several attempts and reboots, it took my lic. info.
