NaNo Wants to buy Scrivener for Window s

Help! I have finally figured out why I’m having so much trouble with the trial version on this new computer. I would like to just go ahead and buy the new Windows version, and use it to complete my NaNo novel.

Problem: How do I know that what I download is the right one for my novel and verifying my word count to NaNoWriMo?
And what do I have to uninstalll?

As I understand it there are two different Scrivener programs depending on your OS (i.e. Mac or Windows) and as far as the Windows version it seems to work even if you aren’t using the latest version of the OS (I have Win XP on my desktop and Scrivener works great). As for uninstalling all you have to do is uninstall the trial (if using the NaNo Trial) and then download and install the regular version. They have the NaNo Template for download as well. I bought the Win version the other day and have it installed (after having had the NaNo2012 Trial version) and everything is working fine. The project files you make are stored elsewhere (I have them in my Documents folder) and aren’t deleted when you uninstall the NaNo Trial.

This is all correct, there is nothing special you have to do. The one thing worth mentioning is that there are a few extra features in the NaNo version that are not in the current stable version. If you have been using comments in the Inspector sidebar, you’ll still be able to see them if you hover over the highlight, but you won’t be able to edit them or add more. The older version just has the inline version of these notes. So if you do want to switch to the stable version, you will need to use the Format/Convert menu to convert them to inline notes, first.

Otherwise, feel free to switch over at any. As Crich70 points out, all of your work is separate from the software.
