Need Word Installed to Export .doc files?

Somewhere in my lizard brain, I may or may not remember a post or two on the RSS feed mentioning that you need Word installed to export to .doc. If I Lion-up, my Word 2004 goes away, but I haven’t opened it in three months so that likely won’t be a loss. Unless, I can no longer edit files in Scrivener, then export them as .doc files to authors for their review.

It’s possible this is a Windows-only aberration, but I need reassurance.

Hi Ahab,

That was a Windows-only limitation (I can’t remember whether it still exists). Scrivener relies on no external applications for any of its export methods, except for Kindlegen for Kindle export.
