Hello, my university is saying that Scrivener needs to be licensed to them on my university-provided laptop, so could you tell me if they can pay for it remotely and then send the license to me by email so I can install it? Or does the laptop where it will be installed have to be the one that orders it? Sorry if this is a dumb question…
Hi.
To make sure, you should ask directly to their support staff. Here, we’re mostly simple users, and as a general rule they don’t discuss licenses on the forum for security reasons. (Your security.)
Contact them there: (They’re usually quite fast.)

They’ll likely say it is not a problem. But better be sure.
Hi @Sarah1, staff member here . You or the authorized purchaser from your university can purchase a license from any computer—the license isn’t tied to a specific device. Whatever email address is entered at checkout will be sent the license key. You’ll just need to be sure to purchase the license for the correct platform (Scrivener 3 for macOS for a Mac computer or Windows for a PC).
If you need more specific licensing assistance, please do email us.
A reminder - there is a special education rate available that save a few £s. It might also be worth having your university reach out to LL and see if they are able to offer a bulk buy discount. I don’t know if LL do this (I don’t work here), but if your uni wanted to buy licences to cover everyone in your class / degree they might be able to agree a favourable rate!
Thank you all so much, appreciate your help!
