New Project...displays another Project

I have been using Scrivener 3 (Windows) for some time on two other projects.

I tried to create a new project using New Project…

I selected a template that I had used on another project. Name the project & save.

When I open the new project, it opens the wrong project, but displays the correct location and name.

However, I tried creating a new project using a different template, name and save. This when opened, is a clean and new project.

My guess is the Project Template is corrupted, or when you created it, you left some old information in. You could take the newly created bad project, clean it up and fix it and save as a new Project Template with a different name. Now either delete or rename the faulty project with name to avoid for now.

Thanks! What about just replacing the template with a fresh copy? Is it possible to download copies of the standard templates from L&L?

You can choose File > New Project and create a new project with a default project template and migrate files over to new project.

That wouldn’t resolve the problem of a default template though.

From within Scrivener, click Help > Release Notes. This takes you to the latest version of Scrivener, which you can download and reinstall. Takes about 5 minutes for the whole process.
Exit Scrivener before reinstalling it.
If the problem was a corrupted template and it’s a Scrivener template, it will be replaced by the reinstalled package’s template.
If the problem persists, then it’s not the template that’s at fault.

Check that you haven’t overwritten one of your existing projects when starting the new project, else: what is meant by “wrong project”?
