No updates since December 2019?

I bought Scrivener for iOS because I bought an iPad Pro for travel and wanted to be able to leave the laptop at home yet keep up with my writing. But the very first time I tried to use it, I got an error saying there was a system file missing when I opened the file on my Macbook Air (after syncing).

I got it all sorted, but then I went to look and saw there hasn’t been an update to the iOS version of Scrivener since December 2019. Really? Is the iOS version no longer actively being supported?

Mary

Yes, iOS Scrivener is being actively supported. In fact, we’re currently recruiting testers to help us confirm that we’ve squashed a specific bug:

While we don’t comment on upcoming releases, I can say that there’s pending news on the iOS front.

That is awesome! Thank you!

Mary

Indeed, as Katherine says - as soon as I have confirmation that the bug is squashed (it’s looking good so far but I need a few more testers with the issue), the update is pretty much good to go. Apologies for the long delay between updates. There are only two developers on the Mac/iOS side, and we’ve been doing a lot of intense background work to pave the way for the future, stuff that won’t see the light of day for a while yet. That’s no excuse for such a long delay between updates on iOS, though. (We’re hoping to recruit another developer.)

All the best,
Keith

I am very happy to read there is an update on the way. The thing I miss the most about the IOS version is that I seem to have no access to the session target for my word count and statistics. The main reason I use Scrivner is because it helps me track such things and doesn’t cost a monthly fee. But when I switch to the IOS version, I feel like I’m flying blind in that regard.

When you’re in edit mode, and can see a live word count of the document you’re working on, tap that word count. That displays the Project and Session progress, and allows you to set them if they aren’t already.

I see that now and thank you. However, unlike the full-fledged program, it looks like there’s no way for it to auto-calculate the word count based on a due date. It seems to inherent the numbers from the desktop version. I guess that makes sense, treating the iOS app as something supplemental. Still, I’d love to see the ability to set it all up on the Ipad alone with the automatically calculated numbers and the same statistics I can get from my Scrivener 3 Windows program (writing history stats).

I’d love to help . how can I get involved in testing?

As far as I know, at this time we only need testers for the specific bug mentioned upthread. (If you can help with that one, see the other thread for instructions.) But keep an eye on the iOS Scrivener threads here, as that’s where we’ll post any future calls for testers.
