Not all shortcuts not working

Basic shortcuts like cut, paste, bold, italic, etc., all work, however, paragraph alignment (left, right, center) with its respective shortcuts [ Win+{, Win+}, & Win+| does not.

I’ve tried switching to version 1 of the Windows shortcuts inside Scrivener’s Keyboard inside the Options area and even ensured that sticky keys were disabled in the OS Windows system, but this had no effect.

As well, I’ve tried reassigning new keys to the paragraph alignment functions but that hasn’t had any effect either. Funnily enough reassigning keys for changing the case of text did work.

Using Win11 (latest updates as of 08SEP25) and Scrivener v3.1.6.

The {, } and | keys are not primary shortcut keys and require the Shift key (on most keyboards) to be typed.

Thanks @RevoTiLlor but those comas are an item separator (to denote a different key combo sets) and aren’t meant for inclusion in the shortcut combo. Apologies for the confusion.

That said, I’ve tried the shift-key, with this and other shortcuts, but it doesn’t help. It simply types out the assigned character ignoring the shortcut altogether.

Let me elaborate:
It’s Win+Shift+{ for left alignment in Scrivener.

Win+Shift+} for right alignment in Scrivener.

It’s Win+Shift+| for centre alignment in Scrivener.

Basically, you need to include Shift also in your keyboard shortcuts.
My samples show that it works in Windows 11.

@RevoTiLlor :: Thanks for taking the time to do this, and I don’t mean to be difficult but adding the shift key doesn’t work.

Yesterday, the bracket and bar symbol simply appeared as normal type when adding the shift key. At least that’s what I remember, but that may have been the square brackets… ??

Now however… In the Windows shortcut theme v3, adding the shift key with the brackets (left & right alignment) toggles the Binder column to and from a search column, and the bar key doesn’t seem to be doing anything at all.

In shortcut theme v1, the bracket combos seem to do nothing but the bar key toggles the hard return icons on and off.

Since it’s working with you and not me, a nuclear option seems appropriate. I’m going to uninstall/reinstall the app to see if resolves the issue.

Before you uninstall, check if your cursor focus is in the Editor. It appears, from your feedback, that you’ve clicked into the Binder.
The 3 samples I posted are tests I ran earlier.

It occurred to me I also have this app installed on my laptop, so I tested it there and the shortcuts worked. Sadly, before trying your last suggestion I had already un/reinstalled. Fortunately, it has resolved the issue.

Anyway, many thanks @RevoTiLlor. Your help was truly appreciated.
