Notecards and exporting

Maybe I miss understood the purpose of the notecards and used them wrong, or maybe I missed a box that should be checked or not…
I gave notecards a “Header” (the chapter where soandso’s head gets blown off, the chapter where we discover soandso’s father, etc) and in the synopsis I would just jot some notes, need to work on this, this is where this or that happens, make sure to research this…
When I export to Word the header and the note I wrote goes along with it… Is there a way to NOT do this? What did I miss here? thanks…

It depends how you’re doing the export, but assuming you’re using Compile to generate a file for Word, you just need to make sure that the “Synopsis” and “Title” columns are deselected in the Formatting pane. (“Title” would be the header, as you describe it.)

aw man… i kept thinking if i didnt check it then it would not be included in the export…, like an all or nothing deal…

Oh, maybe I’m misunderstanding what you want. If you deselect the checkboxes as I told you, then yes, none of the titles or synopses will appear in your compiled manuscript. They’ll still be in the project, of course, just not in the compiled document. You can fine tune that by adjusting which document types and levels to exclude the titles and synopses from–in the example image, I’ve unchecked everything, but for instance you could check the title for the first row, folders, and have titles compiled for all folders but not for document stacks or single documents; likewise, you could check the synopsis box for the bottom row, Level 2+ documents, and then the synopsis would be included for all single documents that are at the second level or higher in the binder hierarchy (so for instance if you’re compiling the whole Draft folder, documents directly inside the Draft wouldn’t have the synopsis included, but subdocuments of other documents or folders in the Draft would have the synopsis included).

Meanwhile, if the “text” box is checked, then your document text will still compile, even if the title and synopsis are not set to be included.

i think you got my problem… im gonna test it out tonight… ill check in tomorrow, but thanks i think you caught my error.
