Notes disappear in Composition Mode?

Problem: When I enter composition mode, the inspector only shows me the synopsis pane when I select “synopsis & notes.”

It’s entirely possible that I’ve fiddled with some setting to make this happen, but for the life of me I can’t seem to un-fiddle it, even after googling for a good thirty minutes.

I’ve attached two screenshots which show the problem. Please advise.

(Stats: Mac OS 10.14.2 [Mojave]; Scrivener 3.1.5)

I would call this a bug. I reproduced it easily by entering Composition Mode and dragging the line between synopsis and notes all the way to the bottom of the Inspector window. Despite repeated attempts to drag the boundary line back up, I was unable to restore the Notes pane. Restarting Scrivener had no effect. Restarting the Mac, however, allowed me to drag the boundary line back up to restore the Notes pane.

What a relief! My next step would have been to reset Scrivener’s UI.

Hope this helps!

Perfect, that worked! Thanks!

For the future, I’d also recommend upgrading to the latest version of Mojave, which is 10.14.6. This kind of anomaly is much more common in earlier versions of any Mac OS release.

I thought of mentioning it, but I have the latest and greatest Mojave, and still easily reproduced this problem.

For me, running Catalina, it works if I tap to make sure the inspector has focus and then hover over the separator at the bottom until the grab handle appears.

If I don’t tap to give the inspector focus, it doesn’t work. Expect everyone else is already trying that, but just in case…

That’s as may be in Catalina. I hovered over that exact spot, and waited for the grab handle. It appeared but would not move the boundary no matter how diligently I tried. Reboot of Mojave 10.14.6 solved the problem.
