One thing I love about the iPad version of Scrivener is the opening page where you have all your projects listed in a tile (or corkboard view).
I asked a while ago about a possible way of doing this on the mac. Someone suggested having a shortcut in the Finder. I think this was a search shortcut (I cant really remember). When you click on the tab in the Finder - all your projects were there and you just clicked on the one you wanted and it opened Scrivener.
I haven’t been using this method for a while - because I have been working on the one project.
Today I used my shortcut method it only opened a Preview of the file. Even if I select “open in” Scrivener - it doesnt open.
If I go through Scrivener itself - everything opens ok. But any shortcut - even clicking on the file in the DropBox folder will only open Preview and not the file in Scrivener.
It’s not really a big deal but does anyone know what has changed ? I assume it is a change from the Mac side but my shortcut method was handy - especially going back to a project you hadn’t worked on for a while and had forgotten about.
I don’t think what you are describing has anything to do with the various ways in which you use files in Finder. I think your file associations are just messed up. You probably only need to fix that then, in the same way you would change what program opens JPGs or whatever, with the Get Info panel on any .scriv.
If that doesn’t work you probably need to rebuild the LaunchServices database. It can get messed up sometimes, and particularly over OS upgrades. Common symptoms are things loading in the wrong software, icons vanishing or being used incorrectly, and others of that nature.

You were right about the file scrambles. I thought I would close or reboot my laptop. I found the Apple “restart or close” tabs were not working. Obviously, something got scrambled.
I did a hard reboot.Bingo! Everything is working again. Everything back to normal.
Maybe I just needed a reminder to troubleshoot a little before posting. Thanks for your help.
