Omitting a section from the word count?

Hello,

I searched for posts on this issue, so I hope I’m not repeating a question. I like to have a notes section underneath the section I am working on, but I’d like it not to count in the word count when I view the folder that encompasses it. I know if you move a section out of the main content part of the binder, it does not count. But I prefer not to move it out of the main content section where I might lose track of it. Is it possible to mark a section exempt from the word count? Or to create a folder in the middle that is not part of the main content?

Exclude the section from the Compile command, and set the word count options to include only Compiled documents.

I had the same question!

I cannot for the life of me find the word count settings tho…

I hope you’ve found it in the six years since your post but I’m leaving this here for those that may be as confused and you and I were.

The Word Count Options that @kewms mentioned is under the Project menu

Choose Statistics
Click the Options tab
Click the “Count only documents marked for inclusion”

At least that is what I think it is supposed to do, but it still seems to add those files to the folder total word count (for folders containing documents NOT included in the compile). I still cannot get this to work as I expect it to.
