I have posted these issues here before, but no ones been able to help me figure this out. The first issue is that misspelled words do not get the red underline squiggle unless I am in Compose mode. The other issue is that when highlighting a word to look it up in dictionary it leaves off the last letter. For example if I were to look up Literature in my document it would only look for Literatur and leave the ‘e’ off. The only way I have found around this is to highlight the whole word plus the space after it. This happened on my old macbook, and continues on with my Macbook Air. I’m just wondering if anyone has any new insight on why this might be occurring?
I’m not sure about the second problem, I’ve never heard of anything like that, but the first sounds like a Lion bug. Fixes for this were posted in the current public beta. I’d try that and see if that solves the second problem, first.
Actually the new Beta version corrected BOTH issues!
Thanks!
The current Beta fixes the problem with misspelled words not getting underlined except only in Compose mode , however the Look Up “word” feature is still leaving the last letter off. Any thoughts?
Great! I don’t know what was wrong with the second problem, like I say I’ve never heard of anything like that described before. There are intermittent issues on some computers with Look Up in general on Lion; it’s some deeper OS bug we’ve never figured out, but this isn’t related to what you describe. Well, at least it is fixed.
