Options window taller than screen (RESOLVED)

Running version 3.1.1 on Windows 10. When I open the Options window, it is taller than my screen. General > Author Information, Editing > Options, Editing > Formatting, Corrections, Keyboard, and Sharing all have settings that are unviewable behind or below the taskbar. (The OK button is unviewable everywhere, but at least I can press the Return key for that.)

I tried to make the window shorter so that I could drag it upwards and see all of its contents. But clicking-and-dragging the top border of the window only moves the entire window downwards - rapidly moving it off the screen entirely.

Quite vexing.

That’s probably because you selected for the interface a font size that is too much.
Go here in the options, and make it lesser.

After you hit “OK” in the font selection popup, hit TAB once, then enter.
Repeat with an even smaller font size if needed.
. . . . . .

Or use the reset :

→ If you use the reset button, then don’t hit TAB after, but simply hit enter. (No navigation necessary in this case. The focus is still on the “OK” button that you can’t yet see.)

If the new font size is not suitable for you once you managed to fix your options window, you will have to opt for a different screen resolution instead of boosting the interface’s font size.

Thank you. Worked like a charm.

Of course, I made the interface font bigger in the first place for a reason. :grinning: My 9-point font days are definitely in the rearview mirror. But at least now I can access those areas when needed.

So, now you can also give the window less height.

How please? I’ve tried everything and simply cannot use the options menu on either of my laptops due to this issue.

Do you see the top of the options panel?
Can you grab and move it?

If yes, make it so you can see this:

then, below (a bit lower than the middle of the panel), this:

Click image at the far right.
This will reset the font and font size for the interface.
(But note that perhaps, if you are comfortable with everything else on your computers, you might not like it. Take note of the current font and size first, so you can put it back as it was if needed. … Although it is clearly dysfunctional.)

Greetings,

I was tweaking my screen setup trying out different settings when I changed the size of the font of the general interface to amiri 14 and after I clicked for it to accept my changes, it made it so big that i can’t change it back. It won’t let me get to the bottom of the options screen to get it to accept the changes. I have no way to get to the radsio buttons. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

Hi

Check the above.

If you can’t even get to the font selector, here is a key sequence that will fix the issue using almost exclusively your keyboard.

(Start with the options panel closed.)
Ctrl + ,
Right arrow 8x
Left arrow 4x
Tab 14x
Enter
(Mouse⮚) Reduce the font. (Go for 9 or 10pt) ⮚ OK (mouse) / Exit the font panel.
Tab 1x
Enter

Thank you for both answers. I tried the 1st one. And it did shrink the font, but it still didn’t shrink the options screen at all. It doesn’t matter how small i make the font it still won’t let me see the buttons at the bottom.

You are missing this step :

The change won’t show (the panel won’t shrink back to normal) until you close and reopen it.
