Page numbers

I know this has been covered before. but not clearly as far as I can tell.

It is my understanding that there is NO OPTION TO NUMBER PAGES UNTIL AFTER THE SCRIPT OR NOVEL IS “COMPILED.”

Is that correct?

In other words, while you’re writing, you have no idea what page you’re on. Correct?

Can somebody please answer this question…simply because I am old school and without page numbers as I write a program completely loses it’s use for me.

Thanks,

Dennis

Not quite.

On the Mac, View -> Page View command will give you the current and total pages.

Note, however, that these are just estimates, as Compile allows you to change margins, fonts, linespacing, and pretty much anything else that will affect the page count.

Also, the File -> Print Current Document command gives you a fast, draft-quality printout, and page numbers, without the hassle of compiling.

The Footer View shows page number/total pages as well as word count. If your footer view is not showing you can turn it on in View/ Layout/ Show Footer View.
