Page Text/Header problems

Hello,

I am compiling my novel for Create Space publishing. I am creating a .doc file

One problem I am having is that the first text line on each page is too close to the Header text. I would like to add a blank line so that they are separated a bit. How do I do that? Thanks

I know nothing about Create Space (so apologies if what I’m about to say is dumb) but can’t you simply adjust the document margins in Word so the body text is further away from the header?
