Seems Apple has finally seen the light enough to re-instate RTF import and export in Pages. Don’t suppose they’ll have done much to improve tables and lists in TextKit, though!

Apple is the most exasperating productivity software developer on the planet!!! They can make brilliant software, yet choose to arbitrarily remove features many users depend on, on a whim. They armlock users into proprietary formats, and rely on private APIs while rarely dogfooding their public ones, which shows contempt for macOS as a platform. Pages has lots of things going for it, but the fact it has taken them so long to offer a measly import/export RTF feature just confirms to me why anyone uses Apple productivity software at their peril… Apple should have destroyed MS Office on macOS years ago, yet their terrible mismanagement means even today they command a small, non professional user base…
True indeed …
Sadly, a number of my third party apps that I really like(d) and rely/ied on have gone to the wall like OmniWeb, or have had no development other than making sure they continue to run under each OS update, like Tables (the spreadsheet) and GyazMail. I haven’t found any browser that really replaces OmniWeb, and am dreading the possibility that GyazMail will cease to function one day. Heaven forbid that I should have to use Mail.app!
I use Safari, though I don’t like it, but to me it is preferable to Firefox or Google Chrome, and alternatives which I prefer in some ways, like Roccat, don’t support 1Password.
And of course NWP is absolutely my word processor of choice.

I still hope Keith tells us there was a quiet update to Textkit and all the bugs he has to fight again have all been fixed! The sad reality is more likely to be ala PDFKit in Sierra, a complete disaster of an update introducing new brain damage driven by the race to the bottom trying to dumb everything down for iOS…
Not much hope there, I reckon, and while the new version of Pages will open RTF files from Scrivener, it ignores footnotes, page numbers, section breaks … so not much use either for we Scrivenerati!
