[Pants to] your Update Fee

oooo so you’re offering us a discount. shove it! [bloomin’] scam artists.

i am so [chuffing] [hacked] off with you right now for charging us for the poxy [ruddy] update. i have purchased scrivener countless times but for many systems but i’ll be [blown over] if you’ll ever take a single penny from me ever again. [goshdarnit]! i feel really sorry for all the kids out there who scrapped their money together to buy this on facebook recommendations. well that’s going to change now.

scrivener doesn’t even incorporate all the proper tools necessary for writing management. you have to purchase third party add-ons. i wish i spent more money and bought our licenses from a trusted developer which is what we’re going to do from now on. better to cut our loses now and move on.

[MODERATOR’S NOTE: Some words in this post have been replaced with less profane alternatives.]

The paid update comes 10 years after the last paid update. There are many software companies who put out paid updates much more frequently than Lit & Lat do, so if you’re upset with them for once per decade update, then you’re going to be perpetually upset at the commercial software market.

Also, you don’t have to buy new licenses for every one of your computers. You can share a single license with many of your computers, and can recycle the licensing on old, retired computers automatically, once you hit the limit on authorized installations.

“Scam artists”? I do not think that phrase means what you think it means.

You buy a licence from us and you can use it for as long as you like on multiple machines. You’re not obliged to update - Scrivener 2 is still available for download. If you do want to update, there is a discount. If you purchased Scrivener in 2007, the total you would have spent to date to keep up with the latest version would be $90 over more than ten years ($40 for v1, $25 for the updates to v2 and v3). That 's an average of $9 per year for a tool that many people use every day. Would you prefer it if we went subscription instead and charged you $40 per year? Do you swear at your car dealer when you have to trade in the car you’ve had for five or ten years and pay more to buy a new one?

And I have no idea what you mean about third-party add-ons. That’s not true and there are none that I know of.

Anyway, do read the rules of this forum - “Be Polite”. If you can’t manage that, you’ll be banned.

Somethings off with the OP. Read it again and it looks like a spam or paid for post. Especially given that this is the only post from the long time user.

gotta love the internet

I’m looking forward to reading the [durn tootin’] OP’s books for free for the rest of my [rucking] life, now that I’ve bought the one they wrote seven [mustard spreading] years ago from a discount bin. I have to say though, the font is so [jammy whoopin’] small you cannot even read it without third-party magnifying glasses!

Yes, Scrivener is such a terrible [freaking] writing app that it’s #3 in the [frobozz] Mac App Store (USA) Productivity paid apps, #4 in the [hacking] Productivity Top Grossing apps, #17 in the overall paid apps, and #17 in the overall top grossing apps.

It also has a [honking] 4.5 star rating.

Congratulations to the Literature and Latte team!!!

Can we make the [blerking] items in brackets mandatory for all posts, please?

There just isn’t enough love for [jammy whoopin’]. Ioa, you are the wind beneath my [flooping] wings.

I noticed right away that he found how to turn off the auto capitalizing feature in Scrivener and the poster refers to “we”, perhaps meaning the whole file sharing community he/she belongs to.

I suspect that someone’s account may have been compromised. It must be the work of an eleven year old Russian hacker, tampering with our democratic upgrade process, no? :open_mouth:

As was once so effectively said in that nail-biter movie, Airplane, “Golly!”

What third-party apps? And how can one purchase Scrivener for countless times? They are on three platforms only… unless countless has recently be redefined as, what, like 3? or 6?
