I have had this happening at least once a day, something times more often.
I do a Find text and it finds and hightlighs the Text, and the Highlighting persists even after I’ve moved on.
the only way I’ve found to removed the box is to close the Document and it goes away, then I reopen the document and it is not there.
It is annoying cause in my case it is BRIGHT YELLOW Box, right in the middle of text. very distracting.
I am currently running MacOS 27 Beta and Scrivener 3.5.2.
When I do a find… a yellow box flashes, then it vanishes, and the word is Not Highlighted.
I just checked my settings and I don’t have that yellow anywhere as a hightlight color or any color actually.
So, I’m with Alice on this one.
yes, school was the word I was searching for, at the time.
While I agree it might be an OS issue, the fact it goes away when I close the document, lends credibility to the idea it may be some interaction between Scrivener and the OS.
Also Scrivener is the only application it has happened in.
Not BBEdit, VSCode, Word, OneNote. or anything else.
Since you are running the MacOS 27 beta, can I suggest that the problem is Apple’s not Scrivener’s. I didn’t have any such problem running MacOS 26.5.x. I have just upgraded to 26.6 but haven’t yet opened Scrivener following the update.
In a PM to me, @KB said that MacOS 27 is still full of bugs!

None of those apps uses TextKit like Scrivener; VSCode, Word, OneNote all use Microsoft code.

Yes, I realize that, it is possible this falls squarely on Apple’s side of the line.
And I’ve reported it to Apple as well.
Now, that is an interesting addition to the Mixture. TextKit, could be and interesting.
The Idea of reporting it here is for the L&L to hear about it.
Is this some reaction to a new “Feature” of TextKit?
Now I’ve only see it when using “Find and Replace” dialogue.
Could it not be the OS but a side effect of Siri AI Assistant?

Just to clarify: is this the yellow highlight that normally flashes up and then disappears when using Cmd-F or Cmd-G (Edit > Find > Find… or Find Next), not the highlights of words that appear when using project search? If the former, then it must be a macOS bug, because that yellow highlight is all Apple’s code.

You are correct, it is the Yellow Block pops up and vanishes (Normally) when you are doing a search. Every once and a while it stick like it has been glue to the spot it found the text and the only way to clear it off is to close the document window, not the application. It was the fact it goes away with closing the Document which lead me to believe it was connected to the Application, and the fact I haven’t seen it in other applications.
I have sent feedback to Apple about the issue and sent them the image of the Yellow Box, about this and a few other annoying issues.
But thank for the clarification, on who owns the annoying Yellow Box.
Thanks for the clarification, and for sending feedback to Apple. Just for the record, this is the Apple function responsible for the yellow highlight:
So my code just calls Apple’s function - [textView showFindIndicatorForRange:foundRange] - and then Apple’s code handles highlighting the text yellow and then removing the highlight again (as their documentation, says: "The indicators automatically disappear after a certain period of time - or they should!).
From your screenshot, it looks to me as though Apple’s code creates the highlight using a temporary square yellow window that is placed over the text, and that this isn’t being removed correctly in some circumstances (it looks as though you are able to scroll under it).
When you say that you close and reopen the document to get rid of it, do you mean by changing documents in the outline, or the whole project? If the latter, a quicker way of getting rid of it might be toggling page view on and off using Shift-Opt-Cmd-P. This will recreate the editor, which might clear the attached highlight square. (I haven’t reproduced it, so this is just an educated guess.)

I mean, I close the Project and the box goes away, and when I reopen the Project, it doesn’t come back…. until I happens again.
Seeing this has been happened about once a day, the next time it happens I will attempt to toggle Page View on and Off. I’ll tell you if there is any success.
Trying to reproduce, I went searching for ‘school’ again and must have hit the mouse button around a hundred times, but nothing.
I was just thinking it comes up in the middle of the screen and it could be a bad bit at that location of the screen but that doesn’t work due it being in different locations across the screen. and I use the Typewriter mode to keep the editing in the center of the screen. (again the reason it is so annoying it is right in the middle of everything)
When I happens again, I’ll see if I can get it to go away by the toggling, changing to cork board or the Outliner as well.
