Problems with Compile and style formatting

When I compile my manuscript for ePub 3, I am having problems with the Block Quote style. While it is based on the Body style, I cannot make adjustments to spacing after nor to indentation. I want the Block Quote style’s alignment to be full justified, there to be 12 pt spacing after the paragraph, the left paragraph indent set to 1”, and to Match right indent to left. All of these I can set in the Compile settings, but none of which are applied to the compiled document.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going wrong and how I can fix this?

With thanks in advance,
Ian

(I did no formatting as per your specs at all. I just dropped the style [not even the right one, lol – my bad] in the list for the screenshots.)

Make sure the name of the style in the styles list of your compile format is a perfect match to the name of the style as it is in your project. Else, it’ll never work.
You can add the style again (once more, in the styles list), and if you don’t get a warning (copy the name of the new one, delete that new style from the list right away (this is important, don’t keep it in there), and then paste the style name you’ve just so fetched over the current (faulty) name of your style, therefore fixing the version of the style that you’ve already formatted to your taste.
(If, on the contrary, you get a warning when adding the style once more as I explained above, delete that new version of the block-quote style right away ; it is useless + you really don’t want it in there – your issue is something else.)

Alternatively, checking that setting at the bottom of the CSS panel might fix it (this I am not as certain, though ; not sure that styles that are used but not in the styles list count as “custom formatting” in the present context…), and I believe that even if it works, your style will end up with a generic name in the output.

One thing for sure, if the above setting makes it suddenly work, it is not so much of a fix, as the text you’ve styled as block-quote will be compiled as it looks in the project, not as you’ve tried to format it in your compile format.
(But you could then fix the block-quote style’s formatting in your project. Not ideal, but it would get you out of this one. … Although, on second thought, you say you want the right indent to match the left, you’d have to tweak this manually in the compiled epub file. It is far from ideal.)
