PTHPasteboard Pro is on sale today over at MacUpdate but I can’t find any info on license terms anywhere. I’d like to load it on a laptop and desktop (although I don’t yet have a desktop). If anyone has any info I’d appreciate some insight.
Thanks
Here you go. In a nutshell you can register up to five machines in a household.
Damn! I thought I scoured that site carefully, looking for license info. It certainly is a generous enough agreement. Even though I haven’t had much time yet to test it, I’m probably going to buy it. It seems really useful. I’ve tested a couple of other clipboard managers that weren’t nearly as good. Sorry to bother you about something I should’ve found out for myself. But thanks for the help and the quick reply, Amber.
Did you buy it?
I must have 7 clipboard utilities by now, and PTH Pasteboard is probably the best one I’ve used. I’m using CopyPaste Pro now, but it lacks a search function and stores less clippings than other alternatives. Another good option is Keyboard Maestro. It has a clipboard feature and much more.
Yes, I did buy it. I’m not fully up to speed yet but I’m very happy with it. The only other one I’ve tried was iClip which was very pretty but nearly unusable. So I was a bit leery about trying another one. When I used Windows I had a magnificent program, ClipMate which was a joy to use. PTHPasteboard is very good and I’m getting more comfortable with it. It takes me a bit of time to get acquainted with new software. I have a tendency to experiment with software while watching TV. Using an old Cajun expression, my wife says that I’m “doing two things, half well.” I think the expression is from an old story about a young man driving his car while making out with his girlfriend. The tale is from Justin Wilson. My grandfather met him several times, I believe. He (my granddad) gave me a couple of Mr. Wilson’s Cajun cookbooks. They’re full of good recipes and folksy humor.
I do go on don’t I? Blame the Cabo Wabo Tequila that a friend of mine dropped off earlier. I couldn’t let him leave without hoisting a few…it’s very good stuff. Now I’m in the mood for an old Clint Eastwood movie. I hope they’ve got some on Netflix. I got a Roku box a few weeks ago. I got one for my dad a couple of months ago and had to get one for myself. My father says that 1000’s of movies available for instant streaming is a government plot to turn Gen X into Gen XL, killing them all through inactivity and heart attacks. Thereby reducing the Social Security roles. Sorry, I never should write with a blood alcohol content this high.
When I used Windows I used ClipMate and later ClipCache Pro. Both great programs.
On the Mac I only use LaunchBar’s “clipboard history” feature, and if there’s a clipping I want to save for who-knows-when I import it to ShoveBox (has an “Import Clipboard” feature).
For a while, though, when I was still using both Mac and Windows, I was almost tempted to try an intriguing clipboard manager called Simidude, it’s a cross-platform network clipboard, and folks at another forum, outlinersoftware.com, recommended it: outlinersoftware.com/search/index/simidude
…But I stopped using Windows. And I’m not sure I need a network clipboard that bad.
