Hello,
I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong area of the forum. I’m new here.
I have finished a free trial of Scrivener and love it. I would like to purchase it, but I prefer to do it through Amazon, as I have quite a large sum of gift card money on there. My only hesitation is that in every negative to mediocre review of Scrivener the number one complaint seems to be people have a hard time with the download process.
My question: Has this bug been fixed? Should I expect to have a hard time with the purchase?
The upside is I love the software and every review (even the bad ones) say nothing bad about the product. I just don’t want to purchase the software and then have to buy it again directly.
When you purchase a Scrivener licence from Amazon (only available in the U.S.), you will be given an activation code, and instructions to visit a particular website (the exact address depends on whether you are purchasing Scrivener for Mac or for Windows). You should get this information by email, but you can also retrieve it from Amazon’s download centre.
Once you have the activation code, go to the linked URL and enter the code in the field there. You will be taken through a registration procedure on eSellerate’s website (they are the company who run our licensing system and web store on our behalf), so you need to supply the information requested on the screen. Make sure that cookies and redirects are enabled in your browser. At the end of the process, you will receive the “serial number name” and “serial number” that you use to register your installation of Scrivener, and you will also be sent this information in a confirmation email. If you have already downloaded the regular trial of Scrivener, you don’t need to re-download – you can simply register your existing installation, thereby removing the time limitation of the trial.
I hope this helps. If you do encounter a problem with the process, please send an email to us at sales AT literatureandlatte DOT com, and we will get things sorted.
If you have been using Scrivener as a trial, you shouldn’t need to re-download it. Purchasing it should merely gives you a licence to unlock the version you already have — unless Amazon have some devilment up their sleeve! There’s no difference between the trial version and the purchased version.
Excellent! Thank you! I don’t mind if there are a few steps, just so long as I can walk through each one. Thank you everyone for your help. I will be making my purchase this afternoon 8)
