Questions about this program

I am not sure I am in the right place so I apologize ahead of time.

Someone recommended this program for me as I am a student and using my iPad Pro as my main driver for my student work. What I have come to realize is that the spelling and grammar is inconsistent on iPad, as well as the spacing for APA format when copy/pasted into my papers is not correct… which my professors will take off points for.

So what I am asking is if this program provides grammar/spelling suggestions as you write. Additionally, how does it handle your works cited? I know Word has a way of formatting on the Mac which I have used in the past… but I am now using my iPad and word for iPad does no formatting.

To document your resources you have to use a website and paste it in… not super convenient when the spacing is wonky.

I have tried Word, Pages, Ulysses and Google docs but none of them are just what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance for any response.

I can only talk about my personal experiences and impressions, and others may have quite different views, so take this for what it is – a personal opinion.

I bought a large iPad for academic work, hoping for great things, and found it so inconvenient that after a few weeks I abandoned it and bought a MacBook Pro. Scrivener on Mac is a far better experience, and more to the point, working with different files and more than one program is far easier on MacOs. I use Bookends in tandem with Scrivener for my references, and it works very well. My history is that I wrote a book of 150,000 words back in the old days of Word 5 (on a PowerBook) and a doctoral thesis of 85,000 words using Scrivener 2 and Bookends on a MacBook. I would never want to do serious work of this kind on an iPad (at least, not in the present state of iOS). As I think you are discovering, the iPad has limitations that may make it an uncongenial companion, though it does depend on the kind of work you do. For me, it was unworkable. There was simply too much friction, too many small obstacles to overcome.
