I’ve been using Scrivener for a couple of years and have found it very useful for structuring all my notes, research etc for any projects I’m working on.
My first writing project was something completely different. Back in the 1980s I wrote a text adventure called Sherlock Holmes in The Case of the Beheaded Smuggler. This was using a system called the Professional Adventure Writing System - PAWS.
And last year, I got around to doing something I’d been meaning to do for years - that is, writing the story for the text adventure. I used Scrivener to do this and it worked very well for me, as I had plenty of notes, research etc.
Actually producing the end result - a book for sale on Amazon - took a while, as I found the Compiling process a bit of a brain-teaser. And producing a book cover was even harder, but saying all that, I finally got there!
In December 2025, my book became available for sale on Amazon, in Paperback and Kindle versions. More information on my website at https://www.patwalsh.co.uk/case/ where I give a bit more of an introduction to the whole escapade.
