I have been using scrivener just fine for a month or so, but now all of the sudden when I open scrivener all my text files are in a recovered files folder, which is extremely annoying because there are about a hundred of them! I opened a backup, which worked the first time I opened it, but the second time I opened it everything was in a recovered files folder. I thought this might have to do with keeping the project in dropbox, so took the locally-saved backup and opened it on my local harddrive, no dropbox involved, and it still put everything in a recovered file folder the second time I opened it. What gives?!
That’s clearly a sign that Scrivener thinks there’s some kind of problem with the project. I would suggest the following:
-
Create a fresh copy of the project under a new name in a location that Dropbox can’t see.
-
Delete all versions of the project from the Dropbox folder on any of your connected computers. Allow your changes to synchronize.
-
Restart your computer to clear out any lingering alert flags that might be causing the problem.
