Removing blank lines between paragraphs when compiling

Hi all,

I just started using Scrivener and am making my way up the learning curve. I would like to get one little thing out of the way so I can get to writing and learn everything else as I go.

I’m using the Manuscript format, which is perfect (for now) except for one thing. When I write, I like to have blank lines between paragraphs (it just makes it easier for me). When I compile this way, by default the blank lines signal a new scene (?). In the outline, my scenes will be different files, so I don’t need this, and would like the extra blank lines just to be stripped out. How can I do this?

Edit → Text Tidying → Remove extra lines between paragraphs.

Format → Paragraph → Line and Paragraph spacing to adjust the spacing as desired.

Once you’ve formatted one paragraph to work the way you want, you can use the Project → Project Settings → Formatting pane to make it the default for this project, or Scrivener → Scrivener Preferences → Editing → Formatting to make it the default Scrivener-wide.

Then, the Documents → Convert → Text to Default Formatting command will reformat existing text to the new default.

Once that’s done, to get rid of the extra space in the output document, Compile with a Section Layout that doesn’t have it.
