Seems that I can only remove ALL files from the Trash, not just certain ones. Is this correct? If so, it would be nice to be able to delete some but not all.
I’ve moved individual docs and folders from the Scrivener trash, and put them back higher in the binder. Is this what you meant? Just drag docs and folders where you want them. In and out of the trash!
Hi,
Yes, this is true - you can only empty the entire Trash. Individual delete is on the list of possibilities for version 3.0, though.
All the best,
Keith
Hi-- just a bump from the Windows forum. I have been searching for information on how to delete selected items from trash, and see from this post that it’s not possible, so I assume it’s not possible for Windows version either. I would like to strongly support adding this feature to both versions. Consider this scenario: this morning I accidentally duplicated a file several times by trying to insert the date (alt-D in windows) without having focus on my document. Now in my trash folder I have multiple versions of the same file. This could prove really muddling if I ever deleted the original file and then wanted to restore it, which is the intended benefit of the trash folder.
You could always create another top-level folder called “Junk Yard”, where you move stuff you might possibly want to retrieve at some point, and then you’d be free to delete just the useless stuff, like empty documents you didn’t mean to create on the cork board.
I had a colleague who had one level of his filing cabinet called “Pending Junk”. I thought it reflected his decisive nature.

Funny. I might call it: lost causes. Problem is I really don’t like having too many extra folders.
I did a temporary solve that was similar to these ideas-- moved my entire trash folder into a higher level folder, moved everything that I did by accident into trash, emptied trash, and then moved my true trash back. Seems like a lot of steps when my instinct is to right click an individual file/folder already in trash and hit delete. Then get a warning message like the “clear trash” message and be done with it.
Thanks to both of you for ideas. Hope Lee is listening.
