removing list formatting

I added a list within a chapter and then decided it was a mistake. I deleted the list and then pasted some new text in it’s place, only to see it converted to a list! How do I actually get rid of the list formatting?

Select the offending area that is producing lists, press Cmd-R to show the ruler, and from the List drop-down on the right, select ‘None’.

Then, submit feedback to Apple for a “reveal codes” interface, as in WordPerfect. :wink:
