Repeated trouble syncing between devices using DropBox

I am using Scrivener on 3 devices:
Macbook
iPhone
iPad

What is happening now:
I make a change on the iPad and it syncs fine with iPhone and MacBook.
I make a change on MacBook and the changes are not reflected on iPhone and iPad.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the software controlling sync–it’s not Scrivener but you don’t say what it is–between the MacBook and the sync service’s servers is not working. Beyond that would be mere speculation.

See Literature and Latte’s FAQs on their web site for lots of advice about troubleshooting syncing. And there are many posts here where issues with sync services are discussed and often resolved.

I have looked at various sites and here and have not found a solution.

There are a number of other threads started recently about problems with Dropbox, including one, if I remember rightly, giving the same problem as yours. They all seem to follow updates to Sequoia and/or iOS/iPadOS and Dropbox.

I wonder too if hardware might be involved, as there is another post mentioning issues, with the user on Intel-based machines as opposed to Apple Silicon. It makes me wonder about Sequoia on Intel, if there are gremlins that don’t appear on M-series processors.

I can’t really help, as I haven’t used Scrivener for iOS/iPadOS for years, and no longer keep Scrivener projects on Dropbox. But for what I do use it for, none of the changes to the Dropbox location or updates have caused me problems.

So the more information about hardware and OS version that people give, the more chance there is of solutions being found.

Create a test project on the Mac. Sync, then use a browser to visit your account at Dropbox.com. If the project is not there, or is incomplete, then you have an issue with Dropbox itself and should contact their support team.

Thanks, good advice – I’ll try this.
