Hi there. I want to remove double (or more) spaces from beteen words in my MS. Is there a way to run this command through the whole MS - I can only seem to do it by going into each scene - selecting text and running the command.
I can’t find anything recent on this, Would love some help if possible please.
In Edit > Find > Project Replace, add two spaces to the Find textbox and one sace in the replace textbox.
Project replace cannot be undone, so create a manual Backup first.

What I do is
Select the files in the binder
Menu Edit → Find → Project Replace
Switch to the Replace box. Type two spaces (press space bar twice)
In the Replace field, type one space.
Click Replace All (or Replace one by one).
Works for me. Hope it works for you.
Edit > Text Tidying > Replace Multiple Spaces With Single Spaces
As far as I can tell, text tidying only works on the current document, not across the project. I use the project replace method as explained in the earlier posts. To deal with more than 2 spaces, run it repeatedly until it finds no more.
If you select all the files in the binder, then show them, select-all, then the Tidy Text function works. Another way.
@rms I just tried that, but when I select all (or any >1 number of files), all options under Text Tidying are greyed out.
After you’ve selected the documents, you’ll view them in a Scrivenings session. You’ll need to click into the main editor of the Scrivenings session so the cursor is visible. That should allow the command to be used.
Glad to see there are so many ways to do this. I’d never thought I’d need such a feature, but I guess I do. It’s like keyboard layouts - my fingers remember their favorite keyboard regardless of whether it’s the one I’m using unfortunately. They also automatically type that double space I learned in typing class oh so long ago…
Unlearning that double space is an ongoing battle…
If it doesn’t bother you personally (to look at), you don’t even have to fix the double spaces in Scrivener. Let the Compiler handle it on the way out.

Have you tried running Ctrl+Q on your documents. It seems to work on documents in a hierarchy too, though I’m uncertain to what depth. It removes extra spaces between words and sentence beginnings on S3 for Windows.
