Hi all, the current dark mode on Scrivener enables a dark grey background and not a true black like all the other apps. Using an iPad Pro with OLED screen this is a bit anoying as black means pixels don’t light up.
Is it possible to add a theme for the app which enables a true black theme. As a reference the Apple Notes app does that for example.
Hi there, are you talking about the new 11 inch or 13 inch iPad pro with oled screens?
I’ve been looking at those.
I just really wanted to see how they looked in dark mode for Scrivener.
If so, have you tried the “smart invert” options?
Hi, yes I am using scrivener on the new iPad Pros with OLED and apps which provide a true black background look absolutely incredible.
I tried the smart invert options but find it to cumbersome to enable them, even with automations.
So please add a dark mode with a black option. Thank You.
Upvote for a straight white text on pure black background. Or just letting us play with theming in some fashion with enough flexibility to get that particular job done. This is 100% the main reason I continue to use Ulysses on iPad rather than Scrivener.
Yes please! I also use the M4 iPad Pro 11 inch, and it’s the perfect writing tool. However, i think the battery would last far longer if Scrivener had a true OLED dark mode, where only the letters lit up. This would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Everyone, I’ve found a workaround solution that results on white text on black background. Consider Scrivener hasn’t been updated in a year, this is perhaps our only choice.
On iPad, go to Settings > Accessibility, and at the bottom of the screen, go to Per-App Settings. Add Scrivener to this and configure it to turn on ‘Smart Invert’. Then, go to Scrivener > Settings and tell it to always use Light mode.
Close and re-open Scrivener and it should be black background with white text
Well OK. But as long as they don’t get rid of the current color scheme as well, because then I would have to ditch Scrivener iOS in favor of the MacBook version. Perhaps the solution is to allow the user to set the colors as with the desktop versions. (I’m assuming you can do this on Windows as well.)
TLDR for the creators of Scrivener: please don’t get rid of the current color scheme as an option — the current colors are beautiful.
As an addendum, though, I wouldn’t mind seeing a true focus mode, with all other text and ornamentations gone — nothing but the words you’re writing and a blank screen. No buttons. No ‘Done’ at the right of the screen. No anything!
iA Writer seems to manage this right?
