Hey all,
I am new to the Scapple forum
I am running Scapple version 1.4.2.0 64-bit on Windows 11, version 25H2, OS build 26200.8737, and had been running into a bug where some of the background shapes would change size upon opening a .scap file.
I was able to solve this problem, so I wanted to share my solution in case anyone now, or in the future, encountered this bug, and so they know the version it is definitively fixable on.
I have been using Scapple for this project for the past two months, and I am using a very intentional layout, as well as very intentional sizing, note/background shape properties, and layering. The layering not being preserved between new renderings of the file (a less onerous problem) aside, three of my background shapes would change their shape and alignment consistently upon opening the file.
I tried a few things, including unchecking all of the default settings in options other than “Use selected note style for new notes”, shifting the entire map on the coordinate plane, and, of course, just fixing their size and shape to no avail.
The simple fix was just to create new background shapes, match their size and properties to the old ones, create and align a horizontal and vertical marker with the old ones, delete the old ones, and position the new ones exactly where the old ones were.
So this bug seems to originate from the render data of the background shapes themselves, rather than a bug with the rendering software, file save data, object collision, or coordinate grid relationships.
Hopefully that helps someone out. It’s a really easy fix for a really frustrating problem
Sincerely,
Corey
