Reversing order of documents in a folder (IOS)

Hi

I’d like to reverse the order of my docs within a folder and when I tap Edit I can see the greyed-out up and down arrows in the top left-hand corner.

Could someone please tell me how to active these to reverse the order of every item top to bottom, preferably with one tap somewhere!

Many thanks for the help.

Those are forward/back “browser” buttons, not sort buttons. There is no way to sort the Binder in iOS Scrivener.

It is possible to sort search results, which may or may not be helpful for what you’re trying to do.

Note that the Binder does not work like a file manager: the order is defined by you as the author, and in most cases applying an arbitrary sort order would be a terrible idea.

Hi thanks for your reply. I’m trying to reorder a folder not the binder. But I guess that may not be possible either. I’m wondering how the greyed out arrows can be activated and what they are for within a folder.

Those aren’t “sorting” buttons, they are “expand/collapse” buttons. :innocent:

Here’s how they work:

  1. Click Edit
  2. Select a folder that contains subdocuments; the expand/collapse buttons should be activated
  3. Click on the expand or collapse button to reveal or hide the folder’s subdocuments

Reordering folders or documents must be done manually, and one at a time.

Either -

  1. Click Edit
  2. Select and hold the document or folder you want to move at the 3 lines on the right
  3. Drop it where you like

Or -

  1. Click Edit
  2. Click the crosshair arrows in the bottom left
  3. Select (don’t hold) the document or folder you want to move; the arrows on the bottom should be activated
  4. Use the arrows to move it where you like
  5. Click the crosshair arrows again to leave arrow mode

Best,
Jim

Thank you! I didn’t realise the buttons were for opening sub-documents of which I have none.
