San Francisco font

Hi,

I love the San Francisco font and I was wondering why it is not available ?
In the meantime, has anyone been able to use it the iOS app without using a Mac or PC ?

Thanks
Seb

You can use any font (of the supported format: TTF and OTF) in iOS Scrivener, here is how:
scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb … -platforms

As for using the app as a stand-alone, without Mac or PC: yes you can, it is fully self-contained. The desktop versions just have more features.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve carefully red the link provided and the instructions require a Mac or PC which I don’t have. The San Francisco font is included in iOS and MacOS. I was just expecting to get them for free.
I’ll try to find another workaround without a Mac or PC.

Thanks.

San Francisco isn’t available for users, it’s used in the System UI.

There are hackish ways to get it, but if you look in Font Book or a font panel on MacOS or any app on iOS, it’s not there. Nor is it in any of the Apple apps on iOS.

(I assume you’re not looking for this old favorite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_(1984_typeface) )

Hi Derick,

I didn’t realize the SF font was only used for rendering in iOS, like in iBooks. I assumed it was available for editing as well… Pages doesn’t offer SF font as an option, you’re right.

I guess we’ll have to wait Apple to open that font to apps.

Cheers.

Incidentally, you don’t need a computer to install fonts into Scrivener for iOS. All you need is a TTF or OTF file somewhere on your device—that can include downloading fonts from browsers, e-mailing them to yourself as attachments, storing them in file management programs, sync apps, etc.

Has anyone tried to download the font at this url (go down the page to the download Fonts section) : developer.apple.com/fonts/

I don’t have a developer account so I couldn’t try.

Seb

You can download it, but the terms of the license state quite clearly IMPORTANT NOTE: THE APPLE SAN FRANCISCO FONT IS TO BE USED SOLELY FOR CREATING MOCK-UPS OF USER INTERFACES TO BE USED IN SOFTWARE PRODUCTS RUNNING ON APPLE’S iOS OR OS X OPERATING SYSTEMS, AS APPLICABLE.

I was thinking of using the SF font inside the editor only and not for compiled output obviously.
But even that is prohibited:(

not that i work for this website or anything but I find just about every font I can think of completely for free on this website:

Very cool, thank you!
