Scapple 1.5 is now available on both our site and on the Mac App Store.
This is an extensive overhaul of the underlying code, modernising and converting most of the codebase to Swift. As a result of adopting this new programming language from Apple, the minimum supported operating system is now macOS 10.15.0 “Catalina”.
- Improved compatibility with macOS 15.
- Added keyboard access to context menu using Ctrl-Return.
- Adjusted Quick Look and Spotlight to new standards.
- Improved colour handling to improve text contrast.
- Restored access to native window tabs.
- Added live dragging mode accessible using Shift while dragging notes.
- Fixed numerous crashes and issues.

Updating Scapple
To update Scapple 1.5, follow the instructions below—please note that the instructions differ depending on whether you bought Scapple directly from us or from the Mac App Store. If you have any problems, please email us at scapple@literatureandlatte.com for further assistance.
Direct-sale version
Either:

Use the
Scapple ▸ Check for Updates...
menu within Scapple itself and follow the on-screen instructions. -
Go to the main download page and click on the red “Download” button beneath “macOS” to download and re-install Scapple.
Use this method if you have any problems using the automatic updater, or if Scapple refuses to run after updating.
Mac App Store
- Open up the Mac App Store.
- Click on the “Updates” button in the sidebar.
- You should see Scapple listed with an “UPDATE” button next to it—click on the “UPDATE” button.
