Scapple could not open project file: Unexpected "

Hi all

Tried to open a story map im plotting in Scapple
received the message
could not open project file: Unexpected ".

i read a thread on here that said support used software called barebones.
I wondered if i could use that to solve the issue - on a copy of the original of course!
unfortunately, it seems like its only on mac.

ive sent a request to support.

i thought id record the problem here, in case others have the same problem and search for an answer. Presently it seems like it needs support to look at it. ill try remember to follow up with the result.

unless anyone else has a different solution?

support were superb and replied within the hour.

  • ‘It looks like there was a null character in the board’s XML file, which was preventing it from opening. I’m not sure how that got there, but I’ve deleted it now and the file looks to be working as normal.’

Returned to me a file that once uzipped, immediately opened.
