Scapple freeze--permissions

When I go to open Scapple it get a finder window pointing to iCloud. When I tried to open from Raycast, I got a fleeting note about permissions. I have 86’d the old preferences file, downloaded another Scapple, no joy. Suggestions?

It would help a lot to somehow capture the error message so that its contents can be known verbatim. It is otherwise just guesswork. Since you indicate it vanishes quickly, I would try using QuickTime to record a small movie of the portion of the screen where the error appears, and then take a screenshot of it where it can be seen when scrubbing through the video file.

The message is “Unable to complete iCloud Drive sync.

Repair permissions to finish syncing…”

I have it working by choosing “recents: but most of the files referenced “cannot be found,” perhaps because I’ve trashed them. Could something this simple be the problem: It wants to open the last file used, and if it can’t find it, it offers this (unhelpful) error message. If so, I might suggest improving the text. But perhaps it still doesn’t work right and I am deluded. But it SEEMS to work… As always, thank you all for your help, and especially Ms AmberV.

Okay, that sounds like an entirely Mac related problem then. This isn’t our dialogue box and it isn’t coming from Scapple.

I would follow the guidance given by Apple and repair permissions on the volume. I would search for how to do this based on your macOS version. This is one of those things that doesn’t seem to always work the same from one year to the next.
