Scapple Grid Lines

Wish:

I would like to see an option to have light grey grid lines as background on the Scapple window. Just the background and the ability to set their dimensions. No other features. Or, perhaps the ability to use pre-existing jpg files as non-editable background images which could be imported.

Thanks.

This is already possible, just open the Inspector, and click the Choose Textureā€¦ button within the ā€œDocumentā€ tab to select a grid tile image, like the attached.

Iā€™ve also moved this to the Scapple technical support forum, as you posted it in the Scrivener area.
grid_8.gif

Did you remove the attachment?

No, it is still there for me. It is very small however. Since it is meant to tile, there is no reason to have any more pixels than one single square within the grid requires. So in this case it is 8 x 8 pixels of very pale blue, and thus might in some browsers appear as though the image is missing.

By the way, after posting this I made another one for myself, since I liked the idea, but I went with a 64 x 64 tile for a traditional technical graphing paper look. Scapple file is attached, really, truly!

On my Mac the grid_8.gif doesnā€™t have a link, which must be garpuā€™s problem. Perhaps on your hardware, youā€™ve got a local link that others donā€™t get?

Mr X

I donā€™t think images get a link, like files do (I donā€™t have one either). But you should see a pale blue square. If you can see that, you can right-click on it and choose to save the image.

The imageā€™s url is:
download/file.php?id=6429 (you can right click this link to download the image if you canā€™t see it in Ioaā€™s post above).

Only 8x8 pixels, so it is hard to see on the screen, especially when it opens in a tab of its own.

You can also just click and drag the image to your desktop from Ioaā€™s original post (if you can actually see the image, of course).

You can also (should be able to) right click it in Ioaā€™s original post above.

Or here it is in a zipā€¦

Yeah, I figured it out. Thought the tiny box was wrong, until I thought about it.

Grid lines would be useful for me.

I used the file from an earlier post, but Scapple did not render the grid properly. The spacing between the lines was not uniform as found on grid paper. So, I created my own small grid, same problem. Then I decided to create a full page grid, in order to try and identify the issue, still the same issue.

My full page grid should have rendered with perfect grid lines and spacing, it did not. The spacing (therefore the lines) are thrown off in multiple places on the background. This happens regardless of how many pages I am currently viewing.

Exactly the same issues Iā€™m having. Hopefully a updated version will help with this. Gridlines would be great. Moving Rulers with ā€˜snapā€™ would be heavenā€¦

Hello @AmberV
Very nice texture and background.
Would you have other scapple texture/background templates you could share with us ? Is there somewhere perhaps a library or repository of textures that you could recommend ?
thank you
