Scapple won't load - 0x0000000000000032, 0x000000010e3105c0 errors

After launching Scapple (and Scrivener) trials on my Mac the apps don’t load and I get the following error:

0x0000000000000032, 0x000000010e3105c0

Wondering if others have had this experience.
