Scene font

Total noob here. I really like the look of Scrivener 3 and want it to work for me but I’m growing massively frustrated when it comes to Compiling.

Without going into too much detail and how much hair I’ve lost, I’d be really appreciative if someone could tell me how I can change the font case and size for the scene header.

I can’t seem to add an image here to try and explain better what I want to do, but essentially I have a folder as a chapter then a text file for my main content (Scene). When compiled, the title of that text document (Scene) is uppercase and the font is too large. I’d like to change how that looks.

I’ve literally watched every video on this site multiple times and other Youtube videos and I’m sorry but I’m just not getting it.

Hope someone can offer some help.

Thanks

Mick

Hi Mick,

To clarify, are you having trouble formatting the text for the section text itself (a titled section) or the Chapter title?

Either way, the way you’ll go about formatting the text is the same.

  1. Open the project and go to File → Compile
  2. If you already have a custom compile format going (you’ll see this under the “Project Formats” heading in the left panel) double-click that to get into the Compile Format Designer.
If you don’t already have a custom format going, either double-click or control-click the compile format you are using in order to get into the Compile Format Designer.
  3. In the Section Layouts tab, select the assigned layout that you’re wanting to modify. For a chapter title this is likely “Chapter Heading” and for a titled section likely “Titled Section”, but select based on the way your project is set up and your layouts are assigned.
  4. Highlight the text you want to adjust in the format preview on the bottom right (for example, “Section Title”) and click the Aa button to change font, font size, etc. You’ll see the changes you make here reflected in the preview.
  5. Compile to test the output and go back into the Compile Format Designer to make tweaks as needed.

Best,
Jen

Thanks Jen, that’s helpful
