It’s also worth noting that there’s a tiny bit of the world beyond Los Angeles. Thankfully it’s easy to adapt Scrivener to this mind-boggling reality.
Hi, professional WGA screenwriter here.
You don’t need scene numbers in your spec script. In fact, it’s very bad to include them, because it makes you look like you have no idea how the business works. Scene numbers are for production, and usually the writer isn’t the person numbering the scenes.
Re the corkboard, you should try what Amber suggests. It might help your workflow.
I rarely write on spec, and this thread is not about a feature request for not having scene numbers in our scripts - we have that option already.
At some point in the development of every film the screenplay needs scene numbers, properly formatted, to function as a collaborative tool. As @AmberV thoroughly explained, that part of development is beyond the scope of this program, which is a great answer. That answer also makes it pointless to continue this discussion.
This looks interesting. I will have a look at your proposed methods for counting cards/scenes while quietly hoping for better numbering options and even better Final Draft integration.
Thanks for taking the time to explain your vision.
