Hi,
I’m looking for the shortcut to go from an action paragraph to a new scene heading. My script settings say the shortcut is “s”. What does this mean? Obviously, typing s doesn’t do it.
Thanks.

The user manual goes over the various keyboard access methods, in §19.1.1, Selecting the Current Element with the Keyboard.
Thanks, but I must be missing something. From the manual:
The element selection menu has full keyboard access, allowing you to change modes swiftly and without the use of the mouse. The menu itself is invoked with the ⇧⌘ Y shortcut, from within a scriptwriting document. To select an individual element style, tap the associated letter for it, printed to the right of each element.
The shortcut for scene heading is “s”, so if I’m reading this correctly, if I hit enter twice to bring up the list of elements and click “s” it should change to scene heading. But instead it just types the letter s in the text. So what am I missing?
Sounds like you skipped this part. Instead (with your double-enter) you are bringing up a contextual menu, rather than the menu which has the associated one character shortcuts.
Yes, misunderstood that. Thank you!
Yes, unfortunately the enter+enter dropdown isn’t something we can add shortcuts of any kind to, like a normal menu. As I recall, it’s actually a lot closer to the auto-complete dropdown you get when typing in a character’s name, for example.
