So last night, I finally bit the bullet and bought a copy of Scivener for my iPad so that I could finally finish that novel I started working on years ago.
However, when I synced and loaded the .scriv file into Dropbox, iOS Scrivener refuses to open it, claiming it is an unsupported file format.
“Unsupported project file format. The .scriv project is of an older format that cannot be opened on mobile devices.”
Is there a way to convert the filetype without plunking down yet another $50 in ransom to buy a desktop version?
If you only want to upgrade 1 project to use on iOS then you won’t have to buy the desktop version.
You can download it and use it free as a trial. You can then convert your project to the new file format, put it into Dropbox, and delete the desktop version.
This should work and give you a project you can complete on your iPad at no additional cost.
The OP is on Mac and has v. 1. S/he’ll have to download 2.9 for Mac, not 3, as v. 3 for Mac won’t open v. 1 projects. Mac v. 2.9 is compatible with iOS.
