Scrivener 3.45 Interum build not compiling

I am new to Scrivener. After opening a new document, I pasted from a substack article. After which, I chose compile, Format:default, Section Layouts:As is, section layout checked.
(as a new user I cannot upload images)
"error on line 16 at column 45: Opening and ending tag mismatch: span line 16 and p

A google search showed

“indicates faulty HTML, syntax within your compiled ePub or ePub3, likely due to incorrect formatting, CSS, or inline instructions.”
Here is the error:

<item id="contents" properties="nav" href="contents.xhtml" media-type="application/xhtml+xml"/>

Position 45 is href HERE:“contents.xhtml”

So I downloaded 3.45 and opened the same file as a copy

Opening the compiled file in Apple Books resulted in the same error

I am at a loss as to what to do next. Suggestions?

I assume you’re compiling to HTML?

Can you please either attach to this thread or send us a sample project showing the issue? I’ll need to reproduce the problem for myself to fix it.
