Just so people know, to use Antidote with Scrivener now, you sync to a file. Open the file with Libre Writer with is integrated with Antidote. Do your corrections, save and sync back. Not perfect, but really very easy and very good.

I am amazed at how much better Antidote is than what I’ve been using for the last 4 years.

My articles which include screenshots and other images, come back looking exactly like they did before, except with the corrections. Libre office opens the file and uses its heading 1 and heading 2 etc. but when it comes back it uses Scrivener’s heading 1 heading 2 etc. all the images are intact.

Today I wrote a proposal (in Libre Writer) to a client for a new computer system. My proposals use a grid with a column for labels like: cpu, power supply, case, motherboard, Drive1 and so forth. Then I enter the specifics in column 2. Antidote handled all that without getting confused and coming up with a bunch of ridiculous false corrections. I was very surprised. It did make a few good corrections that made the proposal more professional. It just took a minute. Surprised me. It even corrected me when I wrote Libre Office as two words explaining that it is one word: LibreOffice.

But would you be willing to run a test ?
Test a text from Scrivener that would have a few paragraphs formatted differently than most of the body text using this time a custom style (anything other than the built-ins, like headers etc), and see if it comes back from LO-sync with A) the formatting preserved, and B) also the custom style still properly assigned to those specific paragraphs ? (That would actually be awesome if it worked
)
(I guess you don’t actually need to correct it in LO. Just sync + save in LO + sync back should do. (?) Or maybe do one or two corrections in Antidote (preferably within those test paragraphs) – but no use correcting the whole thing.)

I ask because sync is something I am not familiar with. Less chances of user error if you do it than I.

OK. 3 things: 1. What sync is for. 2. The test I ran for you. 3. My process

  1. What sync is for.
    Sync is designed so two authors can work together on a book or article. One writes, syncs to a file sends to writer 2, who edits changes whatever, and sends back. The first writer then syncs back. It is also the recommended way to work with an external editing program like ProWriter aid or Antidote. In other words, it is exactly for what we are doing and it works. This is also made for working on a laptop and then transferring to a desktop and back.

  2. My test for you.
    Normally, I use lots of numbered and bulleted lists. 2 levels of headings. Serif font for body, sans-serif for headers, and lots of screen images. All those work fine. Here’s what I did.

Wrote a paragraph indented and made some words RED color. I’ve indented and italicized before and it worked. This also worked.

Wrote another paragraph with a weird font on one word and an italic word and a bold word.

I was disappointed that Antidote didn’t have much to say about my writing, so I just added another paragraph completely new in LO. That included a word in a strange font and colored blue.

Everything came back perfectly, including the colors and fonts.

This is really what sync is designed to do.

  1. My process.
  • When I’m ready to check, I delete the current “New Collection”.
  • I right click on my stuff and add to collection “New Collection”
  • Then I pull down the file menu and choose sync to external folder. Not Sync now, that doesn’t work for me.
  • I have a documents folder called Scrivener 3 syncs/newsletter2022 - Obviously that changes each year and changes for things not newsletter related.
  • It is set to sync the contents of the draft folder, and sync only documents in New Collection (which I just emptied of everything else). The format is RTF
  • That’s it. I click sync.
  • It give feedback on sync out and return sync.
  • It remembers your settings, so once you have it, you don’t need to change unless you change the sync folder for another project.
  • The sync folder only contains the last sync since you delete the new collections before each new sync.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s pretty wild that the people at Antidote seem to be communicating with Lit&Lat through the forum?

Also that all of the people discussing how to use antidote in the other thread aren’t asking questions here, where they apparently have access to the developers

My direct contact was Lee and his last communication to me was prior to the launch of Scrivener 3 for Windows.

I’ve used the proper form, but haven’t been able to get any answer.

We strongly believe this integration would help both parties and serve many customers. So I’m knocking on as many doors as possible, hoping one would answer!

Hey, using sync + LibreOffice Writer as a connector between Scrivener and Antidote actually works. :slight_smile:
All style assignations and text formatting are preserved. :+1:
Not as convenient as having Antidote connecting directly to Scrivener, but much better than any other way around I tried so far.

I also just stumbled upon a new trick for using the dictionary :
Normally, to get a word definition, or synonyms or whatever really in Antidote, you’d need to select the word in Scrivener, then ctrl+c, then go to Antidote taskbar icon (last on the right in this below screenshot),

then give antidote focus, and finally ctrl+v where you would normally type in the word in Antidote’s panel.

But I just found out by trial and error (because I was tired of this many steps, and decided that there had to be a better way
), that even though Scrivener is full screen, you can actually select the word, then drag it onto Antidote’s taskbar icon (which does nothing), but once Antidote gets focus, just drop the word anywhere on its panel.

Good morning writers,

there is some mistake about scrivener , scrivener is not a grammar tool correction they can’t correct anything, i am said about the negative answer of development team of scrivener, maybe time for them to close there software, we are a lot of people who ask many times to put antidote to there software, they have no excuses now, antidote make there part of his job in antidote 11.

i am disgusting about this difficult process to obtain what we want :

Scrivener is just a brain storming tool, with some organisation capacity with some shortcut, that sit.

Sure they have a dictionary, but this dictionary is so awful you never imagine, they took some code from public repository to make this odd dictionary available locally, yes there is some update of the dictionary , but it’s nothing to do with a grammar tool.

they need to erase this dictionary and give place to antidote (most for french users)


how a writer can sell his product at decided short time related to a contract that the client sign with him as a journalist, reporter, or blogger.

we are in a world were all is going more and more quicker
 , we have a job because we need money, and we want to make our job correctly, and also keep this job, so we want to be equal to every writers who just have passion and have time , a minority of people has time, will this minority of people have the hole place to novels, there will be then a lack of different kind of novels, interested people will say i am boring my self, i want to read something or to listen at something.

but if we continue to use scrivener as it is for today, there will be also problem for people who don’t like to see mistake in there reading, the mind will be blocked and they will not have this passion anymore to read what we imagine.

also problem for people who make audio books, there will no be any fluidity , and more time for them to reach there goal, they are also controlled by time.

look at one of the most writer Aghata Christie, this woman had also to finish there book in a specific time , you know why there is no mistake in there book, because he give the book to someone who correct the misspelling and the grammar before publication.

the resume of this is that no human in this world can make a hole novel or story book or something related to this , without any fault, so i hope you writers if you read at me , you will do like me , get ride of scrivener because this program make some fault in there marketing advisor, this is not an easy program for the result we want, it is an easy program only for mac users.

but how many mac users in front of windows users ?
