If that’s the case, zip it up and attach it to an email to support@literatureandlatte.com, so they can check what’s wrong and correct it.
If it still crashes with the Shift key held down, in Finder, hold down the Opt key and choose Go > Library > Preferences and drag any com.literatureandlatte…plist files onto your desktop. Then open Scrivener again. If it opens, try loading your project; if the project loads, you’re good to go and you can trash the com.litetc…plist files on your desktop, but you’ll have to reset your preferences.
If you don’t feel confident about 2), or if Scrivener still crashes, try re-downloading and re-installing it. And if you still have no joy, email Literature and Latte support.
Hope that helps,
Mark
Well, that’s annoying - this seems to be related to tabbed windows, which I had hoped I had fixed for 3.0.2, but obviously not.
At any rate, the bug is being triggered by Scrivener opening and putting your projects into tabs (this normally should be fine, but there is some rare trigger that causes problems, and which we have not yet been able to locate). This is because, at some point, you must have chosen to merge the project windows into a single tabbed window.
xiamenese’s advice should get you up and running - if you hold Shift down while launching Scrivener, it will cause Scrivener to open without opening any projects. You can then load up your projects one at a time (e.g. from the File > Recent Projects menu), which will avoid them being loaded into a single tabbed window, and which should stop the crashing.
All the best,
Keith
Thank you both - I followed your advice and everything is working now
I have this same issue as well as the program constantly freezing on any attempt to save, any attempt to cut and past, any attempt to compile. It is driving me crazy and I even bough a new computer to fix it and it still doesn’t work.

This thread is three years old and is unlikely to be relevant to your version of Scrivener. (Or if it is, your first step should be to update to the latest version.)
