Scrivener 3 (Windows) - Crashing when clicking Binder - found a Fix

Hi,
On my Window 11 - After playing around with Importing and Scapple PDFs and related actions, my Scrivener project suddenly kept on crashing each time I clicked inside the Binder everywhere else was unaffected with a click.

The Solution for me:

was to follow a few steps in this document related to Scrivener for Macs.
Resetting a Project’s Display Settings / macOS: Troubleshooting / Knowledge Base - Literature and Latte Support

Precautionary First Steps:

(1) Immediately do a Manual Backup if you can: File → Backup → Backup Now
(2 a) File → Options → Manage → Save Options to File
and
(2 b) File → Options ->Manage → Save Theme Options to File

(3) File → Save and Rebuild Search Indexes

The Actual Fix:

(4) Hold down the “OPTION” key and then click “File” - > “Close Project and Clear Interface Settings”

(5) Restart Scrivener and Open Project:
In my case there was nothing else to do, because I already had saved Layouts
and the Theme I had, “Dark Mode” was unaffected, nothing (data etc) was lost

Window → Layouts

If you needed Project and Themes settings you could load them from the saved files (Step 2).
Actually You might just want to do that now for the sake of having a starting backup of “Options”… Obviously manual regular backups is always a must,
Not just relying on the Scrivener to always do it for you. “You won’t regret it!”

Just a note to help others, in case they get a fright like I did

Happy Scrivening

One of the reasons why we encourage all Mac users to have a Time Machine volume. It quietly backs up all the little configuration files that people forget to back up.

Edit: Not sure what the Windows equivalent is, but you definitely want some kind of routine backup that doesn’t require your active participation.
