Yes or No? What are the pros and cons?
I’m currently saving MS in Scrivener AND MS Word but thats starting to get a little annoying lol
“Word processor”, as defined by which decade of computing?
um…this decade? lol I’m just tired of remembering to save it in Word AND Scrivener
WORD PROCESSORS THESE DAYS DO MORE THAN PROCESS WORDS. THEY ARE LAYOUT PROGRAMS, OF THE TYPE THAT USED TO BE SPECIALIZED FOR PUBLISHING NEWSPAPERS, PAMPHLETS, BOOKLETS, AND THE LIKE. THEY HAVE BEEN “WYSIWYG” OR “WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET” FOR ABOUT TWO DECADES, AS THEY ADDED THESE PUBLISHING FEATURES.
(wait, why were we shouting?) clears throat
Scrivener, on the other hand, is designed primarily to create the words, not to help you visualize what those words will look like when published/printed.
So if you want to see exactly how your words will look on paper when you print, then Scrivener can’t be that kind of program. But if you just want to process words, and not do visual layout on a virtual page, then it’s great for that.
Why do you think you have to save your work to Word and Scrivener constantly? To what end are you doing this? And by “save it in Word and Scrivener”, what do you mean? Compile from Scriv to Word format? Copy & paste from one to the other? Use File->Export to get the data out of Scrivener and into files that you then copy into Word? Write in Word and copy to Scrivener? Knowing what and why you’re doing what you’re doing might help dispel some misunderstanding about the program…
I always remember to save a copy in Word. Because, if don’t do this, I’m sure my MS would vanish forever.
