Scrivener crashes when trying to change theme

I am trying to set the theme to default on MAC M1 OS v.13.4.1 (c) and when I do Scrivener crashes.

I can’t reproduce this in macOS 13.3.1; I should probably update anyway at this point, and I’ll try again once that completes. (Edit: nope, still no crash on 13.4.1; must be something specific to your setup.)

But in the meanwhile, I would suggest a simple preference reset, to eliminate any potential one-off gremlins.
